#Last May 16, a Chinese tourist who came to Dongdaemun, Seoul, lost his luxury bag containing 5 million won in cash. The tourist tried to find the bag and cash on his own, but couldn't find it, so he called the local police station for help.

The police found the bag in 50 minutes through Lost 112, a comprehensive lost property management system. This is thanks to a Korean citizen who picked up the bag on the street and reported it in advance.

# A Swiss exchange student who came to Seoul last April as an exchange student lost his smartphone in a taxi. This international student went to the police station and asked for help, and the police registered the lost item on Lost 112. Afterwards, the taxi driver was able to return the smartphone to the international student by registering it with Lost 112.

‘Lost 112’ (www.lost112.go.kr), a comprehensive lost property management system operated by the National Police Agency, is a system that finds lost items. Regarding lost and found items, you can easily register lost items anytime, anywhere. If a lost item is stored at a police station, it can be found in no time.

It is an integrated management of lost items reported and received by police stations across the country, and provides citizens with information on lost items at any time so that they can be quickly found.

Currently, many people do not know about the Lost 112 site, so if they lose something, they go to the police station to file a lost item report. However, you can easily register lost items on the Lost 112 site at home without going to the police station.

If you use Lost 112, you can also check whether the lost item has been reported as found.

If similar items are received after the application is completed, you will be notified via text message or E-mail.

If you find someone else's lost item, you must report the item to the police station.

You can't register found items on Lost 112 while keeping them at home. You must visit the police station, etc., and have the police officer register on your behalf. That way, you won’t be suspected of “embezzlement of stolen property” later.

If you hand over the found item to the police station and the owner doesn't show up for six months or more, you can legally take the item yourself.

Also, even if the owner appears and picks up the item, you can receive a reward within the range of 5-20% of the value of the item.

I hope that through a system like Lost 112, it will become a safer and more just Korean society.
