From November 22 to December 5, Gwangju City will
jointly participate with local universities in the ‘Expo for Studying in Korea
with Local Governments in 2021’ hosted by the National Institute of
International Education under the Ministry of Education.
The joint participation in this fair was promoted to
promote Gwangju City and local universities to overseas students who are
interested in studying in Korea.
It is a representative study abroad exposition that
provides online information on Korean university admissions and local
information to the world in order to improve access to information on studying
in Korea for overseas Koreans and foreigners and to create new study abroad
demand.
First, the city of Gwangju will open the Gwangju City
Hall on the website of the National Institute of International Education's
'non-face-to-face online platform' study abroad fair to promote the city's
culture, tourism, a good environment for studying abroad, and support policies.
Local participating universities such as Chonnam
National University, Chosun University, Honam University, Gwangju University,
and GIST operate separate online booths for each university to provide
university information and to actually recruit foreign students through
one-on-one customized counseling using online chat messenger.
In addition, social network services (SNS) such as
Google, Facebook, and Instagram, and overseas portals, including the fair
period, will be used for three weeks (November 22nd to December 12th) to
maximize participation in the study abroad fair.
Kim Young-seon, head of the Gwangju University
Development Cooperation Group, said, "At a time when the shortage of
freshmen at local universities is real, attracting excellent foreign students
can be a new opportunity for local universities and is important for securing
global competitiveness."
