The Gwangju Metropolitan Government's
Public Welfare Judicial Police Department said it conducted a special
inspection of foreign-used restaurants in the jurisdiction to strengthen
COVID-19 quarantine management and prevent food accidents, and found eight
places, including storage of expired products.
The inspection was conducted to strengthen
quarantine management such as the list of visitors and prevent food accidents
such as blocking unreported imported foods as COVID-19 confirmed cases continue
to occur and mass infections may occur through restaurants mainly used by
foreigners.
Among the restaurants mainly used by
foreigners, 65 suspected hygiene-vulnerable businesses were selected, and from
October 25 to November 4, the COVID-19 quarantine rules were implemented and
the hygiene status of the chef was checked.
As a result of the inspection, a total of
eight places, including ▲five
places to store and use expired
products, ▲one
place to operate unregistered food manufacturing processing, ▲one
place to sell meat, and ▲one
place to lose facilities, were found.
Violations will be notified to the
autonomous district for prompt administrative disposition, and judicial
measures will be taken through direct investigation into seven businesses that
have carried out expired product storage and use, unregistered food
manufacturing and meat sales.
In addition, during the inspection period, the employer was asked to thoroughly implement COVID-19 quarantine rules, such as managing the access list, and to undergo a COVID-19 test at a screening clinic if there are suspected symptoms such as coughing and fever.
