Cheongju Lifelong Learning Center will start a lifelong education support project for foreign residents from April.
As Cheongju is forming a densely populated area for foreigners in some areas such as Ochang-eup, the need for lifelong education support that can help foreign residents and indigenous peoples sympathize with them and fulfill their roles and responsibilities as citizens is emerging.
The ‘Iguk-dongseong' project, which will be pilot-operated in areas with high concentrations of foreigners, was designed to create a community where residents of different countries understand the differences and grow together.
This project is operated in three areas: a 'lifelong education program' with indigenous people, a 'social adaptation program' such as basic order, civic awareness, and cultural experience, and a 'Korean language classroom program' to solve various problems arising from lack of Korean understanding.
