Foreign residents also enjoy the street culture and art festivals all over Gwangju Metropolitan City

In Gwangju Metropolitan City, as the Gwangju Fringe Festival, Art Picnic, and Daein Art Market Festival have started one after another, foreign residents have also started to enjoy cultural and art festivals all over the streets.

The Gwangju Fringe Festival, which opened on June 4th, is an event that focuses on street performances and performing arts of various genres. 

This year, it will be held every Saturday at the base of 5 self-governing gun under the theme of ‘Citizens, Art Love, muldeulGo’ until September 3rd. By expanding the event venue beyond the Asia Culture Center to the village, the range of enjoyment and participation in culture and arts has been expanded.

Then, from September 24 to October 22, it is planning to have over the citizens every Saturday at the Asia Culture Center and May 18th Democracy Plaza. And the operating hours are from 4pm to 8pm.

Art Picnic, which opened on June 11th, is a cultural and artistic excursion event in the city center and has been well received as a cultural and artistic program that families can enjoy visually and aurally all together.

It is being held at the Gwangju National Museum and the operating hours are from 2pm to 6pm every Saturday until November 12th, and the time is adjusted to 5pm to 8pm in hot weather.

The Daein Art Market Festival, which started on July 9th, has established itself as an art market festival where art and everyday life are in harmony.

This year, after holding two events in July, they will take a short break and return to the fall program on August 27th. And the operating hours are from 5pm to 10pm.

Moreover, the Media Art Festival as well will be held in October. Gwangju City is expected to become a city full of vitality through art tourism that illuminates the city through the fusion of the media art festival and the three major street culture and art festivals.
