On the 12th, Ulsan City held a
communication meeting with Mayor Song Cheol-ho and 11 foreign residents from
all walks of life at the Ulsan Global Center.
This meeting was prepared to listen to the
voices of foreign residents who are suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 and
reflect them in future foreign residents support policies.
Participants are from 11 countries,
including the United States, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines, which have
large foreign populations in the region, and range in age from their 30s to
50s, from 2 years to 23 years of residence in Korea. and jobs are also
professors, self-employed, interpreters, and housewives so that various voices
can be heard.
Mayor Song Cheol-ho comforted foreign
residents who might have spent time with concern and longing for their families
in their home country due to the prolonged Corona 19 and listened to complaints
and suggestions while living in Ulsan.
Ulsan City plans to review the valuable
opinions collected from foreign residents on that day and reflect them in the
promotion of foreign residents support policies.
Meanwhile, as of the end of July, the number of foreigners in Ulsan was about 17,000 from 94 countries, and by country, it was distributed in the order of China, Vietnam, and the Philippines. By status of residence, foreign workers accounted for the largest share with about 6,000, followed by marriage immigrants and international students. In addition, by age, about 33% of people in their 30s, 58% of men in gender, and 34% of Ulju-gun in region each account for a high proportion.
