Hana Financial Group has built a dormitory that can
accommodate 80 youths from multicultural families at Haemil School, an
alternative school for youths with a migratory background.
On November 15, Hana Financial Group held a ceremony
for the completion of the Haemil Mutual Cultural Exchange Center, a living
space for multicultural youth. Previously, Hana Financial Group prepared a
joint fund with Gangwon-do, Hongcheon-gun, and the Community Chest of Korea in
June 2019 to build the center.
The Haemil Mutual Cultural Exchange Center is a
dormitory where young people with diverse migration backgrounds and cultures
can live together. It is located in Haemil School, an alternative school for
multicultural youth located in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do. It consists of a total of
30 rooms, including 22 student dormitories and 8 rooms for principals and
teachers. In addition, facilities for leisure and educational activities such
as multi-purpose rooms and creative education rooms are also available. A total
of 80 people can live.
Ham Young-joo, Vice Chairman of Hana Financial Group,
said, “I am delighted to be participating in the construction of a center to
support multicultural youth to learn to respect diversity and differences and
grow into core talents of future generations. Hana Financial Group will do its
best to grow together and share happiness without discrimination and prejudice.”
Kim In-soon, president of Haemil School, said, “I am grateful that the center for our children to spend their middle school years was built with the hearts and minds of all of you. Multicultural students will overcome language and cultural barriers and sublimate them to their strengths to grow into great talents.”
