What is a digital learning center?
The government decided to focus on bridging the digital gap for vulnerable groups by activating digital learning centers by increasing the number of digital learning centers nationwide by more than 1,000 and providing online education to 700,000 people. Digital Learning Center is an online and offline education program operated by the Ministry of Science and ICT for ‘digital immigrants’ as well as the digitally vulnerable. Accordingly, we are providing information education by opening digital learning centers at nearby welfare centers, community centers, and lifelong learning centers, and we are also providing the desired education upon request online. In addition to operating digital learning centers in rural areas, we are contributing to alleviating regional digital gaps by expanding the ‘visiting bus (EduBus)’ to 17 metropolitan local governments across the country.
What kind of education can I get?
The courses available at the Digital Learning Center are digital basics, which teach basic usage of smart devices, video conferencing solutions, SNS, etc.
You can also learn about public services such as mobile transportation, finance, shopping, e-government, and subsidy applications, which are frequently used in daily life and helpful for various economic and social activities.
In addition, you can learn smart office subjects such as Hangul, Excel, Photoshop, and video editing, which are essential programs for working in Korea, as well as basic coding. In order to re-employ women who have taken a career break, we provide software instructor training, as well as a Metaverse experience program for children under care, and training for small business owners on the use of local currency and smart store registration.
In particular, recently, as part of special education, we have been conducting one-person media activities such as YouTubers and podcasters, experiencing new technologies such as 3D printing, drones, AI, and data preprocessing, and providing various certification lectures.
