From the second half of this year, the Korean government has decided to support daily care services for middle-aged (40-64 years old) who need care due to illness or isolation, and young people (13-34 years old) who are caring for a family member suffering from a disability or illness.
Marriage migrant women are also expected to receive benefits if they fall under this category.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on July 5 that it would start a ‘daily care service’ that anyone within the business area can apply for, regardless of income, for middle-aged and young adults who need care.
Accordingly, based on home care and housekeeping services, we plan to provide specialized services for each region, such as accompanying hospitals, meal and nutrition management, psychological support, healthy life support, and nursing education.
First, 37 cities and counties in 12 cities and provinces decided to provide the service.
Step 4 Use of service
The care service is divided into four stages according to the level of need for care, not the level of income, depending on your income level, you may have a deductible
① If both childcare and housework are required, type A (caregiving is provided for 36 hours a month)
② Type B when only housekeeping service is needed (12 hours of housekeeping service per month)
③ Cases in which additional care is required, such as when it is significantly impossible to live alone, type C (care for 72 hours per month)
④ If you are already receiving other care services such as long-term care for the elderly, type D only uses specialized services.
If a person wants to use more services than their type of support, they can do so for a co-pay
The co-payment is divided according to the income level. Basic services are free for basic recipients or those in the next income class, and only 5% of the usage amount for specialized services is paid.
If the middle class exceeds 160% of the standard median income (monthly wage for a two-person household is 5.53 million won), you can use the service at 100% of your own expense.
How to use the service
The care service is a service provided by local governments, and you can apply for it by visiting the Eup, Myeon, or Dong Administrative Welfare Center in your area of residence.
After figuring out what kind of service each selected person needs, the local government issues a voucher at the county, county or township. Users can receive services from private service providers.
I think it will be good news for multicultural families who are struggling to take care of a family member with a disability or illness. However, only multicultural families who have acquired nationality can apply, and those who have not acquired nationality cannot apply.
However, given that the person taking care of multicultural families is a Korean, it is expected that the system will be improved sooner or later.
