Korea has designated October as Culture Month and various cultural events are held throughout the country throughout the month.
In addition to October Culture Month, the last Wednesday of every month is designated as ‘Culture Day’ and offers discounts or free admission to cultural and sports facilities such as movie theaters and museums! Foreign residents also know this, right?
October Culture Month Event
This year’s ‘Culture Month’ celebration event will be held in the Jaeun Island area in Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do from October 20 to 22 under the theme of ‘1004 Islands, Flying with Art!’
At Museum Park, the main event venue, 104 pianos will gather to present an orchestra concert (October 20th), and a b-boying contest (October 22nd) will be held on the beach stage. ‘Shinan’s Gourmet’, a food truck using fresh local ingredients, is also available, so you can taste famous Jeolla-do food.
In addition, various side events are held throughout Shinan-gun, such as exhibitions on the theme of ‘island culture’ that preserves diversity, island travel programs with seven themes, and joint performances by residents.

Festas (festivals) are held throughout the country, including Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. First, Gwanghwamun Square will run the ‘Special Happiness’ program from October 20th to 22nd with the motto ‘A day when there is culture to meet every day.’
In addition to special exhibitions and cultural markets, the ‘2023 Youth Microphone Festival’ featuring young and elderly artists will be held on October 21st and 22nd. With the theme of ‘Youth, Chaos and Passion’, about 100 people from 31 teams will decorate the autumn night in Gwanghwamun with passion.
In addition, we decided to distribute 1,000 ‘cultural coupons to meet every day’ so that you can enjoy culture without burden during the month of October. We plan to provide 3,000 won or 5,000 won cultural discount coupons that can be used in performances, exhibitions, and sports, once a day per person through Interpark every day at 10 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
