In the metropolitan area, such as Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, a very special bus service begins in August.
This bus, called the ‘wide-area call bus’, allows users to reduce waiting time by pre-booking the desired time slot and seat. Buses stop only at pre-booked stops, so there are fewer stops to pass through, making it a new form of transportation that allows you to use it faster than other public transportation options.
The target area for the metropolitan call bus pilot project starting in August is a route between Seoul and Gyeonggi-do.
➀ There are 3 routes departing from Sadang Station: ▲Siheung-si Sihwa MTV ▲ Suwon-si Dangsu 1-2 District ▲ Hwaseong-si Dongtan 1 and 2-dong.
➁DMC Station (Line 6) go to and from ▲Unjeong District, Paju City.
➂The route departing from Yangjae Station (Line 3, Sinbundang Line) goes through two areas: ▲Gorim District, Yongin City, and ▲Shinhyeon-dong, Gwangju City. It will be easier to understand if you look at the picture below.^^
However, it is still unknown whether the wide-area call bus will actually play the role of coming when you make a reservation like a taxi.
Since only 3 buses are allocated for each route, there is a high possibility that it will not play the role of a wide area call bus and become the same as a general wide area bus during times when many passengers are crowded, such as during rush hour.
Of course, during times when there are fewer passengers, you can come right away by making a reservation like a taxi. The fare is about 2,400 won, which is the same as the regular wide-area bus fare.
However, since the metropolitan call bus project is a pilot project that will run for 18 months from August this year, additional measures such as increasing the number of buses are expected to be taken depending on the usage situation. And there is a high possibility that it will expand nationwide.
To use the regional call bus, install the ‘Kakao T’ app on your smartphone and follow the steps below.
① Access ‘Kakao T’ application ② Select service (regular/single/real-time call) ③ Select date/boarding time/seat ④ Reservation completed ⑤ Wait at the reserved stop
