The Korean government is implementing various support projects for marriage immigrants who marry Koreans and settle in Korea. This project is mainly carried out by the ‘Multicultural Family Support Center’, but many places have recently changed the name to ‘Family Center’. ◆Korean language education

This is a representative program of the Multicultural Family Support Center. It is absolutely necessary for marriage immigrants to live in Korea. In addition to regular Korean language education for each level (levels 1 to 4, 100 hours each), special classes such as advanced courses and the Korean Language Proficiency Test (TOPIC class) are operated according to regional characteristics. Classes are usually assigned after pre-evaluation. Depending on the region, there are also centers that operate Korean language education for the Ministry of Justice’s social integration program for free.


◆Visiting multicultural family education project

The visiting education project is a one-on-one customized service in which a visiting education instructor directly visits multicultural families. The target audience is children between the ages of 3 to 12, immigrated children, and marriage immigrants who have been in Korea for less than 5 years. You have to pay a very small amount depending on your income.


◆Bilingual education project

Bilingual education is provided to children from multicultural families so that they can read and write their parents' language. Recently, the Korean government is strengthening support for bilingual education because children of multicultural families have an advantage of bilingual ability. Depending on the circumstances of each center, bilingual education and cultural experience programs of various countries such as Chinese, English, and Vietnamese are provided to children of multicultural families attending elementary school. ◆ Bilingual family environment creation project

The bilingual family environment creation project is a project that supports multicultural families with children aged 0 to 12 so that they can use bilingualism naturally from infancy at home. There are projects such as bilingual parent coaching, parent-child interaction program, bilingual application program, and family coaching for free.

Bilingual parent coaching

The purpose of this project is to create an environment in which children can more effectively develop bilingual skills by helping parents realize the necessity of bilingual education and learning the proper methods for bilingual education. Education on the desirable parenting attitudes of parents are also conducted.

 ② Parent-child interaction program

Based on the bilingual environment and cultural background of multicultural families, this program supports children and parents' bilingual acquisition and parenting skills through fun activities in daily life and parent-child interaction.


◆Multicultural family case management project

This project provides a customized comprehensive service to solve complex and diverse problems such as early entry marriage immigrants, multicultural families, foreign families, and North Korean defectors. ▲If they are experiencing family conflict ▲If they need various help such as financial support ▲If they have difficulty in establishing a stable life in Korea, etc. Psychological and emotional customized support is provided according to the subject's difficulties. It is a project that can provide practical help to the various difficulties that multicultural families experience for free.


◆Interpretation and translation service for marriage immigrants

The Marriage Immigrant Interpretation and Translation Service provides multilingual interpretation and translation services for multicultural families or organizations. Languages available for interpretation and translation support are different for each center. Accompanying interpretation support is also available for free.


◆Multicultural family child language development support project

The language development support project provides language promotion education for children of multicultural families under the age of 12, foreign families, and North Korean defectors who lack Korean language development. Parent education is also provided for free.


◆Support for employment education for marriage immigrants

It is a project that supports marriage immigrants to settle in Korea stably and supports economic independence by strengthening their employment capabilities. Depending on the circumstances of the center, there are various programs such as interpreter and translator training course and ITQ computer certification course for free.
