Did you know that the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, an administrative agency that solves the difficulties of the people in all areas of Korea, receives and resolves complaints from foreigners in multiple languages?
‘Kookmin Sinmungo Foreign Language Complaint Center’ is a service that allows foreigners residing in Korea who are in a blind spot of rights relief due to language barriers to consult and receive complaints in foreign languages so that they can more easily access civil complaint services.
Foreign residents can raise complaints about all the irrational and wrong things they felt in their lives in Korea.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission first started service in 3 foreign languages in 2008, and expanded the service in 2016 to receive complaints in 14 languages.
The ‘Kookmin Sinmungo Foreign Language Complaint Center’ is working hard to protect the rights and interests of foreigners, with an average of about 33,400 complaints received and processed over the past three years.
However, despite these many achievements, it is true that the use of civil service services in foreign languages other than English, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian is somewhat low.
Accordingly, on March 31, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission held a meeting attended by ambassadors from six countries, including Myanmar, Mongolia, Vietnam, Nepal, Cambodia, and Bangladesh, and actively publicized the fact that civil complaint counseling was available in multiple languages.
An official from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission said, “Protecting the rights and interests of foreigners residing or staying in Korea is one of the important roles of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and close cooperation with diplomatic embassies in Korea is important for this.”
