There are 10 cities where multicultural families can inquire about inviting seasonal workers

There are many multicultural families who want to bring their families to Korea through the seasonal worker system operated by the Ministry of Justice. Accordingly, Papaya Story identified the current status of 63 cities and guns operating seasonal worker systems at the request of multicultural families.

Although 63 local governments across the country are participating in this system, as of May 13, there are not many cities and guns that receive recommendations for multicultural families. Many places have already completed recruitment, and many cities and guns have introduced seasonal workers through MOUs with overseas convention cities instead of using the multicultural family recommendation method.

Currently, there are three main methods for each local government to introduce seasonal workers.

First, local governments sign MOUs with overseas convention cities to bring in many workers from overseas at once. Second, they invite multicultural families’ native relatives to Korea with the recommendation of those families. The third method is to recruit foreigners residing in Korea.

Among them, there are cities and guns that use only one method, there are cities and guns that use both methods together, and there are cities and guns that use all three methods.

The second and third methods can help multicultural families to help their relatives at domestic and abroad to find employment, but the first MOU method is something that multicultural families cannot do.

Even if the multicultural family recommendation method was used, there were 7 places that gave priority to their local multicultural family and did not receive external recommendations. Of the 63 cities and guns, 19 cities and guns used only the first MOU method.

The most convenient method for public officials who operate the seasonal worker system is the first MOU method. This is because it can bring in many seasonal workers at once without worrying about various things.

Currently, according to the second method, the cities and guns where multicultural families can invite families from their home countries are ▲Pyeongchang-gun ▲Yeongcheon city ▲Yecheon-gun ▲Damyang-gun.

In addition, ▲Naju receives recommendations for multicultural families from June 10th ▲Dangjin city accepts applications from the end of June ▲Yongin city announces the schedule around July ▲Gimje city plans to proceed in the future.

The cities that are recommended by multicultural families only in the fields of fishing and fisheries are ▲Youngdeok-gun and ▲Jindo-gun. The cities that select only foreigners residing in Korea are ▲Paju city and ▲Gokseong-gun.

In Pyeongtaek City, multicultural families must contact the farmhouse directly and sign a contract with the farmhouse first. It is different from other cities.

Even now, inquiries from many multicultural families who want to bring their families from their hometowns through the seasonal worker system are continuing. A multicultural family in Gyeonggi-do told Papaya Story the following.

“I got married and came to Korea and I am working, but there are many things that are very difficult. There is a seasonal worker system, so I want to bring my younger brother from my home country. If I can bring my brother to Korea, even if he doesn’t work in the area where I live, I will be able to see him on the weekend, so I think that will bring a great comfort to me.”

We hope that all marriage immigrant women who live in a foreign country and care and worry about their husbands and children in Korea and their families in their home countries will be happier.
