The
Jeju Provincial Office of Education will strengthen the customized integrated
support for each student.
On
the 25th, the Education Office will promote customized support for students
with emotional crisis by type, reinforcement of support for multicultural and
North Korean defectors, and customized education for each type of student with
disabilities and dyslexia through the third ‘Student Customized Support’ in the
2022 Jeju Education 7 Hope Policy.
First
of all, the Office of Education has decided to translate and provide home correspondence
in three languages: Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese for the stable school
life of students from multicultural families.
To
this end, a task force (TF) team will be formed in February, and 4 elementary
schools will be selected in the new semester to pilot a home correspondence
translation service.
At
the same time, ‘parental mentoring’ (mentoring for multicultural families with
friendly and warm affection) will be conducted for multicultural families using
retired teachers.
They
also operate the 'Nodokdol Korean School', a Korean-tailored education for
smooth entry into public education for mid-immigrant and foreign students, and
the 'Korean Language Classroom' to support multicultural students who can speak
Korean but have difficulties in learning.
For
multicultural students with a low level of Korean proficiency or basic academic
ability, the homeroom teacher/teacher provides mentoring to support learning
during the semester.
A
bilingual speaking contest is also operated by students and parents to help
students from multicultural families develop their strengths and build
self-esteem.
